Little Governors’ Camp is an intimate retreat with 17 tents around a wildlife-rich watering hole on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Accessible by a short boat ride and a guided walk through riverine forest, the secluded camp features tents with wooden decks and verandahs overlooking a marsh frequented by wildlife. Guests can enjoy open-air meals with resident warthogs and occasional visits from elephants. The Masai Mara Game Reserve, or "The Mara," derives its name from the Masai word for "mottled," reflecting its varied landscape. Spanning 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) at elevations of 1,500-2,170 meters, it features grasslands, riverine forests, and acacia trees. Located about 270 km from Nairobi, it is accessible by a 5-6 hour drive or a short flight. Renowned for its wildlife, including the "Big Five" and the "Big Nine," the Mara is famous for the Annual Migration and offers exceptional year-round wildlife viewing.
